This time of year is rough…

During the holidays, regardless of which one it is, people get depressed…sometimes enough that they may commit suicide and that is wrong. Do you know someone who is down and depressed? Are you feeling that way? There is a new year coming in a few hours, one that has had no murders or rapes in it and nothing stolen in the year 2014 (although that could change).

The point of this short post about sadness and suicide is that it doesn’t have to happen. Jesus loves you far more than you could ever know or understand and He is with you in your darkest hour, no matter where you may be! I want to share a photo that I found on my Facebooksuicidedoesnothelp page and I think that it will illustrate exactly what I mean.

It really doesn’t help and if you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior, your terrible circumstances will only be beginning. You will be in hell forever!

Give your life and your heart to Him, and you will have the strength to get through whatever life is throwing at you!

Are you in your right mind?

Another way of saying it would be, “Are you out of your mind?!” Many people seem to wonder this about others, but they never seem to ask it of themselves. I wonder why not? I ask myself this many times during the weeks and months of my life, I just never have gotten an answer.

Of course, I have heard that if you answer your own questions then you really are crazy. 🙂 What would you say to someone if they asked you this question? I am not sure what I would say, particularly on some days. We all have days like that so I won’t go into any details. In Jesus’ time, the rulers of the temple thought that He was out of His mind and crazy. Especially when He claimed to be the Son of God, and yet who else could take off on a walk across the Sea of Galilee?

In the business world and in life, crazy and off the wall things happen almost every day. Sometimes we notice them and others we don’t until the day is done and then we will think about some little something that happened and we may get a laugh out of it before going to bed. On some days, it doesn’t take much to get me tickled so that I can’t catch my breath, and most of the time I don’t even know what I am laughing about!

I know, I am weird. But, that is the way that we are all made. Each person has a different point at which they will fall out laughing and it won’t make sense to anyone else and least of all to them sometimes. We have to laugh at ourselves and our circumstances some days, otherwise the problems and worries of the day would be too much.

Give your real problems to God and laugh the others away, then your life will be much easier to bear and every day will be better in the long run. You will feel better too (although I wouldn’t advise doing this in your office).

Have a great year in 2014!

This season think on this…

If you are in business for yourself or trying to get into being a business owner, this time of year can be even more stressful. There is a deadline, in a way, that everyone wants to meet now because of Christmas. But, what is it? Why do we need to meet it?

The real deadline is not the holiday that everyone loves and looks forward to every year. It is your own time line, your “date with destiny” if you will. Do you think about it at all? Many people, especially those under thirty, don’t think about the possibility of death at all unless they have had someone close to them that was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Death is something that nobody wants to consider or think about, but it is one of those processes in life that none of us can escape.

This space is about life and a successful living of it so why am I speaking about this now…here? It is because this time of year is one of the worst times of the year for many people. Depression, anxiety, and suicides run far above the norm for any other time of the year during this holiday season and yet, there is real hope available to all.

Even if you don’t have a belief in a higher power or have turned your back on God because of your life or circumstances, He has not abandoned you nor has He forgotten you! God does care, regardless of the rhetoric and blathering that you hear from people who really don’t know any better. They are determined to see that you will be like them, what for? Because they are lonely and they are wrong and they need your company!

Anyone who believes that God doesn’t exist and that we are an accident of the universe is lonely because they are believing a lie and they know it! They just don’t want to admit it! Learn about the One who created you and me still cares about you whether you want to believe it or not and when you do, you will decide that He thinks that you are something worth loving. When you realize this you will also come to the decision that He is worth knowing and loving too!

Your success over the long haul, so to speak, is not dependent on your product or your salesmanship but on your character and the One that you pattern yourself after. If you choose to follow a fantastic salesman, one who can smoothly flatter and show the most easy way to make money, whether it was legal or not, then you will be like him. But, you will be empty inside and nothing that you accomplish will satisfy you.

If you pattern your life and your character on Jesus, then your success will be eternal. You will be able to sleep soundly at night and everything that you accomplish will be satisfying to you and to God. Doing the right thing, regardless of the money you make or don’t make, is more satisfying in the long run. By following Jesus as a disciple and as your example in life, your business will flourish and grow just as your relationship with Him will grow.

Think about it with an open mind and an open heart because how else is Jesus going to get in if you don’t open the door?

Bad Language not necessary

I understand, somewhat, the urge or need to express yourself in the wide world of the Internet and many people do just that. But in business, as well as in life, using words that really have no meaning other than the vulgarity that they express or the fact that your mind can think of no other way of expressing itself is UN-necessary. Words such as these, and you know which ones I am speaking of, are not useful in a business sense nor in life. All that they do is show just how crude and rude you really are. No business owner wants or needs anyone with that kind of language spouting out of their mouth on a regular basis and truly, nobody should be subjected to the abusive tones that go along with it.

I know that many of us grew up doing just that and saying those words because we wanted or needed to seem to be macho or cool, but they are not cool words for adults, especially if you are in a business of any kind. Especially if it is an Internet business! This type of language may attract other people who are also immature, but if you are presenting a business front to others then your speech needs to be professional in nature.

Running a business of any kind has to be as professional as possible and crude language only shows that your education did not get much deeper than your skin. I know that this post sounds like I am trying to be critical of certain behaviors and I am to a certain extent because if you are conducting a business you need to show that your IQ is a little larger than your shoe size!

I do realize that your language has to reflect or at least go along with the clientèle that you are dealing with, but on the Internet you don’t know who you are dealing with. So, treat that person as if they might be your grandmother or your grandfather or at least someone that you have respect for. Don’t treat them like dirt and speak to them as if they are the worst sort of filth imaginable, because if you want repeat business that is not the way to go about it at all! I can guarantee if I am spoken to in those tones, on-line or on the phone, I will not be back regardless of what you might be selling!

Our lives are stressful enough without having to put up with people who are trying to sell something, no matter what the item might be, who show their ignorance by using words that shouldn’t be spoken in public. I have heard workers in fast food restaurants do it and I have heard car salespeople do it too and in both cases, I have not gone back to their place of business. Although, losing my business may not put much of a dent in their sales, but what if more people decided to do the same thing? It wouldn’t be good for business would it?

If you wouldn’t say something in front of your mother, your father or Jesus, then it probably shouldn’t be used or said in the first place.
